Hello everyone, and welcome back to class! I have missed you all, and I am wishing you well. I hope you will find that both the interactive nature of our virtual classroom and corresponding app are easy to use in handling your assignments and maintaining constant communication with myself and your classmates.
So here’s how it works. You all received an email invite to sign for the FXC Virtual Classroom (use the login button on the top right of the web page) and also be sure to Download the Wix App to stay updated on the go. Thank you to everyone that already joined!
When you are on the FXC Virtual Classroom home page, you will find assignments for each class listed by week. You can sort these posts by class. You will see those weekly assignments are also set up in myFoxcroft for grading. All assignments are due no later than Friday to avoid being marked late. You’ll receive notifications for new assignments every Sunday for the upcoming week. Feel free to comment on any of the assignment posts to ask specific questions. You can also use the chat feature at the bottom of the website and app to send messages directly to me. If I am online, we can even chat in real time. You can also chat with any other members that are logged in as well . If I am offline, I will still receive your message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Please use this is the primary communication tool during our distance learning time.
Some other things you will see on the home page are links to relevant course sites and editing software. Please login to the Adobe Creative Cloud and download the required apps to complete your assignments. Video tutorials will be compiled to help you navigate these programs from home. There are also links to free editing software if you are unable to successfully access the Creative Cloud, although this is not ideal.
Now, when you navigate to the Classroom Forum page, this is a place for you to submit all of your work and participate in ongoing class discussions. It is expected that you contribute to this forum a minimum of twice a week. You can submit screenshots of your works in progress as well as your finished work. Be sure to comment frequently on your classmates' submissions as well. Specific requirements related to your participation in the classroom forum will be outlined in your weekly assignments.
The next menu item is setup with a Zoom calendar that has links to all of the available zoom calls that you have the option to participate in throughout the week. You can also find this calendar on the Bulletin Board on myFoxcroft. These are specific times I am available for live conferencing. This is similar to tutorial, which is not mandatory, but it can be incredibly helpful to check in as needed. Please notify me if you would like to use this time. If you receive an invitation directly from me, then that specific meeting time will be required. We will use this time to bring the entire class together or have individual conferencing periodically.
Well, thanks for watching, and I hope this answers any of your questions in getting started using the FXC Virtual Classroom. I really look forward to hearing from you all soon!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will all of our work for the week always be due on Friday?
A: All of your work needs to be submitted in the Classroom Forum by Friday of each week unless otherwise noted in on the Weekly Assignment. For instance, your Week 9 Assignments do not have any specified deadlines, so the expectation is to have everything complete NO LATER THAN Friday. You should be spending roughly 4 hours per week on each class, and it is certainly not advisable to do all of your work for one class in one day. You wouldn't do this on a normal school day. You need to break up your work for each class throughout the week.
