Engineering - Week 13: 4/20-4/24

Updated: Apr 23, 2020

Firstly, thank you all for your efforts in coordinating as a team, even though I recognize this as a real challenge. All that you offer by remaining in contact and providing feedback is extremely valuable. Please continue to do so. However, with everyone working at different times of day, I recognize the difficulty in working on collaborative designs. That being said, I would still like for your final graphic design layouts to be decided on as a team next week. In the meantime, each of you will be responsible for creating your own draft of the three required designs (game title, instructions, and facts). Last week you posted your first graphic design layout. This week, please complete the remaining two designs. Your last step will be analyzing your teammates layouts, which will be an important step to prepare your team to make those final decisions on your designs next week.

Illustrator/Adobe Comp and Creative Cloud: Due Monday 4/20

If you are using a desktop, create two new Illustrator files to create your final proposed graphic design layouts. Use the Adobe Comp app on a mobile device or tablet.

  • If you have not viewed all of last week’s Adobe tutorials, you can still find them in the “Mrs. Fisher” Creative Cloud folder. Please continue to reference these. Check out the newest tutorial below to access more ways to work with your type!

  • Be sure to also review the comments that you received on your original sketches and first graphic design layout in your team forum before you begin. NOTE: If you have not posted a comment on each of your teammates posts, please go back in and provide them with feedback.

  • Remember you can use the Creative Cloud to pull in your team’s reference visuals and graphic designs.

  • In Illustrator go to Window>Libraries>GCA to access your team’s colors and shapes. In Adobe Comp, you can go to Insert>Creative Cloud>Libraries>GCA.

Creative Cloud and Classroom Forum: (5pts) Due Wednesday 4/22

  • Continue working to Illustrator to complete your two remaining graphic design layouts and save them in your Creative Cloud folder. Take screenshots of your final layouts for your team forum as well.

  • Create a new post titled, ”Week 13: Graphic Design Layouts” and insert both of these screenshots.

Classroom Forum Comments: (5pts) Due Friday 4/22

Analyze your teammates newest graphic design layouts. Describe the successful use of the following elements and also determine where there is need for improvement. Use these questions to guide your comments.

  • Main Headlines: Are there words that stand out the most to identify the main ideas?

  • Informative Text: Is the information that you gained from reading the text clear and legible?

  • Supporting Visuals: Do the colors, shapes, and illustrations used support the informative text?

  • Visual Hierarchy: Is there a clear path where your eye goes first, second, third (etc) to establish a layout that with an organized overall flow?
