Graphic Design Analysis

Review all of the Graphic Design Examples from Mrs. Fisher’s Creative Cloud folder that you would like to analyze. Teams 1 and 2 should select two graphic designs from the stream monitoring folder and Team 3 should select two graphic designs from the Riparian Buffers folder. Create a new Google Slide Presentation in your Graphic Design folder with the following slides:

Slide 1: Go to Insert > Image > Upload from Computer > Creative Cloud Files > Goose Creek Association > Mrs. Fisher > Graphic Design Examples > Select design 1 to analyze

Outline the following details beneath the image

  • Main Headlines: What words stand out the most and identify the main ideas?

  • Informative Text: What is the information you gained from reading the text?

  • Supporting Visuals: List all the items you see and describe the colors and shapes that are used. Determine how they support the informative text.

  • Visual Hierarchy: Explain where your eye goes first, second, third (etc) to outline how the layout is organized and the overall flow.

Slide 2: Go to Insert > Image > Upload from Computer > Creative Cloud Files > Goose Creek Association > Mrs. Fisher > Graphic Designs > Select second design to analyze

Slide 3: Copy and paste design 1 and 2 side by side on the last slide to compare and contrast the use of headlines, text, visuals, and hierarchy.

  • Which elements of the designs are similar? How?

  • Which elements of the designs are different? How?

  • Which graphic design do you feel has the most visual impact? Why?

Classroom Forum: (3pts) Due Wedneday 4/8

Create a separate sketch for each of the 3 Graphic Designs that will be used to elevate the visual impact of your team’s interactive display. Work on white instead of lined paper if at all possible and try to add color. It is important to work by hand before actually building the graphic design in Illustrator. The main subjects do not have to be drawn perfectly, but do write out the actual text. You can reference our EPICS@FXC collaborative site to review what had already outlined and even our Goose Creek Association research page.

  1. Your team will need a fun, attention grabbing title for the game you will create.

  2. You will need to outline the individual steps to play that game with supporting visuals that will allow younger children to easily follow.

  3. This game is also meant to educate the public, so you will need to create an info graphic as well. Remember the power of data and statistics! Hunt for facts and figures that will motivate the public to support GCA efforts.

Create a new post tilted, “Week 11: Graphic Design Ideas” and post an image of all three sketches. Our next step will be learning how to with the Type Tool to complete your layouts

Classroom Forum Comments: (4pts) Due Friday 4/10 Find your teammates designs and provide constructive feedback on their graphic design ideas. Next week you will determine which layouts to move forward with and who will produce which graphic design elements.
