Based on your recommendations for the ladder, I worked on accommodating many of your ideas in the draft you see above. Please comment on this post to offer any suggestions or ask any questions as we finalize this ladder. With 12 pages total in the supplement, each one of you will be responsible for completing 3 pages. That means you will not have two even spreads, so you will have the opportunity to work closely with one of your classmates to ensure you have a clean alignment from left to right. Use the comment feature in eDesign to communicate. We will also use the classroom forum each week to offer critical feedback to ensure we produce a stunning supplement!
eDesign: (2pts) Due Monday 4/6
Start by creating a template by hand for your first page (you pick!)
Insert shape boxes and text boxes to organize your content
Be sure you are aligning elements from top to bottom - use custom guides to check
Use only one pica between design elements
Vary element size and shape - keep circles dominant
Choose pleasing color combinations from our mainbook palette
All elements with a border should be set to 8pt
Add actual headlines and subheaders to break up content
Format all text boxes including body copy and captions (use "lorem epsum" default)
Email Communication and eDesign: (2pts) Due Wednesday 4/8
Review all comments on your Supplement Planning and make necessary changes.
Reach out to all relevant community members and please copy me on all email communications.
Create your template by hand for your second and third pages - check alignment left to right for the entire spread
Classroom Forum Post and Comments: (5pts) Due Friday 4/10
Open eDesign and go to the spreads you worked on and create a screenshot of each layout. Create a new post in the Yearbook Classroom Forum titled, “Week 11: Spread Layouts“ and add your screenshots. (NOTE: You do not have to post a screenshot of a spread if your teammate already posted it).
Provide comments for one another beneath each screenshot to highlight the most successful elements and suggest areas for improvement.
