Three essential tasks remain to conclude this year’s engineering project for the Goose Creek Association. While your team’s game still remains within the prototype stage, we will proceed to present each one of your ideas to our community partner so they may select their preferred design. In the Fall, we will assign a new design team to complete the build and delivery phase of the selected game design just in time for Goose Creek Family Festival! So here’s what we have left to do:
EVALUATE THE USER EXPERIENCE: How can we anticipate the possible failures in our designs and what can we do to minimize the impact of these potential hazards?
DESIGN THE USER MANUAL: How can we prepare an illustrated and detailed document that will give the community partner important information about the use and maintenance of our project?
OUTLINE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE FINAL BUILD: What specific steps can be outlined to allow the next team to build our designs with the greatest ease and efficiency?
Classroom Forum: (5pts) Due Friday 5/6
Evaluate of the User Experience:
Create a new post titled, “Week 15: User Experience.” Write out a list of potential failures, ranking them according to severity and how often this failure could occur. Imagine what could go wrong, break, or fail over time? What safety concerns still need to be addressed?
Describe a plan that would help minimize or eliminate any of these potential issues.

Google Drive and Classroom Forum: Due Week 16 - Tuesday 5/12
Begin Designing the User Manual:
Start with a new Google Slide presentation labeled as “Game Title User Manual. Place your game title graphic design on the first slide. The second slide should include a table of contents. Determine the best sequencing of the material and how best to make it usable for the newly appointed design team and community partner.
NOTE: A good user manual assists users on how to use a product safely, healthily and effectively. It should also contain compelling graphics (which you have already begun) as well as procedural information that outlines step-by-step instructions and general maintenance. Keep your use of text and color scheme consistent throughout your user manual to ensure your work is visually compelling, legible, and presented in a professional manner.
Review your graphic designs and all of the documentation that you have accumulated for your project so far. Much of what you have already written or created can be transferred directly to your User Manual (such as the Project Charter and Specifications Development on our EPICS@FXC collaborative site).
Suggestions for information to be included in the manual:
Description and Intended Use of the Game
Steps for Building the Game
Instructions for Installing and Playing the Game
General Maintenance and Safety Warnings

Go to your Google Slides and click Share > Get Shareable Link > Copy Link
Create a new post in your Team Forum titled “Week 16: User Manual Progress” and paste the shareable link to share the progress you’ve made.
Review each others’ versions of the User Manual and provide feedback.
Google Drive and Classroom Forum: Due Week 16 - Thursday 5/14
Complete the User Manual:
Be sure your three graphic designs are placed sensibly throughout your User Manual. This includes you game title (introduction slides), game rules (middle slides), and info graphic (conclusion slides). You should have a clearly established table or contents, statement of purpose, and outline of safety concerns. Feel free to continue using any of the Adobe Apps to design each horizontal layout to be placed on the slides, or you can also work directly on the Google Slides.
Create a new post in your Team Forum titled, "Week 16: Final User Manual."
What's Next? During Week 17, you will begin outlining instructions for the final build of your team’s game design.
