I originally planned this project to be different views on different periods of time, however I ended up just looking at the past in three different ways.
The first picture shows a modern look at the past. The picture has bright neon colors that represent a more modern viewpoint.
The second picture shows an older look at the past. This picture was taken of my manual typewriter with an old film camera.
And the final picture shows a mix of viewpoints. Its not all modern and new, but its also not all that old looking. This picture best represents me as a person. I have influences from both the past and the present, causing my viewpoint to be a mix of the past and the present.
This project took a good deal of work. The first picture was actually taken at the beginning of spring break at an antique store in North Carolina. I remember after looking at my viewfinder and seeing the picture, I knew I wanted to use it somehow, I just absolutely loved that picture. The second and third photographs were taken last week. The second picture of the typewriter was taken on my Nikon Nikkormat film camera and developed. The third was a digital picture that I used Photoshop to create the look of half in color and half in black and white.
There are a lot of small details that I could point out in each of the pictures (down to the paper and words on the typewriter) and what they represent, but that could take awhile, so instead I just want to briefly explain why I choose this project. I choose this because of my influences from the past. I don't think its everyday that you see a 15 year old listening to music on a record player with old classic rock blasting from the speakers, with all sorts of film cameras right beside me, then to top it off there is the clicking of my old typewrite, which I actually do use.
I really like the first image! All of the colors make it super interesting to look at!
