PROGRESS - I imported the picture that I chose an adjusted the opacity to 50%. Next, I used the image tracing pen to trace out each object's outline separately on different layers and finally fill out colors
ISSUES - I messed up on separating the layers clearly. I traced two objects on the same layer, which led to the situation that they cannot overlay each other.
GOALS - I will keep practicing this skill because I think it's very essential to our future projects, and I will complete the assignments to learn more about how to use illustrator.
Maybe you can try adding dimension to the water with the gradient tool. Good job, emily!
Emily, give the Image Trace Panel a try in Illustrator instead of using the Pen Tool again. Illustrator will do the work for you! Here are those instructions:
Open the Image and click on it with the "Selection Tool"
At the top of the screen, click on the "Image Trace" button
You will find the panel button just to the left or go to "Window > Image Trace Panel"
Open up the advanced options so you can tweak your tracing for the desired effect
Click "Expand" at the top of the screen to separate the objects
Use the Direct Selection Tool to select and delete unnecessary traced elements
Emily, I like the colors you chose. I also had some problems with the layers when I was working.
