Tommy McCall said that "data can be sculpted into beautiful shapes." This made me realize the relationship between art and information in graphics, and that it not only has to be informational, but visually appealing as well. Because graphic design helps us understand data through being simple and visually appealing, it helps us understand the information that we are taking in faster and more efficiently. I learned that when it comes to graphics, usually less is more.
Another quote he said that I liked was "Now we can navigate information on our own terms." I liked this quote because it made me realize that there are many ways to show and interpret data, and that through graphic design the possibilities for doing so are endless.
